MAK Committees

All the pillars MAK focus on, are linked to several activities. These activities are organized by many different committees. Below, you can find all different committees of MAK including a short description.

Mentor Recruitment committee

Starts: February

Hours per week: 6-8

MAK Mentorship System is responsible for the recruitment of all TiSEM mentors for the TOP week and the mentoring program afterwards. This requires promotional, and recruitment skills in order to recruit the most capable, motivated and fun TiSEM mentors needed during the introduction period. Furthermore, during this committee, you also engage into contact with a lot of TiSEM students and parties such as the Tilburg Orientation Program (TOP) which increases your social network.

Mentoring committee

Starts: September

Hours per week: 6-8

The Mentoring committee is responsible for the mentoring program after the TOP week. This upholds the monitoring of all different TiSEM mentors and the organization of all different activities attached to this mentoring program: the TiSEM lunch, the TiSEM beer cantus, the 2nd semester Kick-off session and much more. This requires organizational, promotional, and planning skills. Furthermore, as committee you will also get into contact with parties such as Faculty Association Asset, Top, and Tilburg University which enhances your social network.

Kick-off Session committee

Starts: February

Hours per week: 8

The purpose of the Kick-off Sessions is to prepare new students of Tilburg School of Economics and Management (TiSEM) for the start of their study time at Tilburg University. During this day, Bachelor and (pre)Master students will receive information concerning their study program, the digital environment of Tilburg University (TiU) and meet an interesting speaker that tries to inspire these students. As committee member, you will be responsible for the contact with external parties such as TiU, the planning of this entire event and preparation of MAKkers (active members) for the workshops MAK provides.

MAK Introduction Day committee

Starts: February

Hours per week: 8

This committee is responsible for the organization of the MAK Introduction Day (MID), which is an introduction day for all new bachelor students of TiSEM. During this day, new bachelor students will get to know each other and the School of Economics and Management in an informal way. As a committee member, your creative, planning and organization skills will be tested since this day is one of the biggest events organized at Tilburg University.

Student for a Day committee

Starts: Both September and February (2 editions)

Hours per week: 6-8

This committee organizes the Student for a Day for the Tilburg School of Economics and Management TiSEM). During these days, students from 4, 5 and 6 VWO can experience the life as a TiSEM student for one day. In the morning, students attend lectures of a study of their preference and interest. During lunch and in the afternoon, they will participate in a program in the Centre of Tilburg in which they will experience all different aspects of the life as a student. The Student for a Day is held twice a year, in November and March.

FEB First Year Committee

Starts: September

Hours per week: 2-4

The 1st year Business Economics committee focuses on stimulating integration between all different Business Economics students via (in)formal activities. The committee members will organize three activities, ranging from a beer cantus to a visit to another university. The committee members consist of BE/EBE/FE freshmen seeking some experience concerning the organization of certain activities.

MAK weekend

Starts: Both September and February

Hours per week: 4

Twice a year, a couple of MAKkers are responsible for the organization of MAKweekend. During these weekends, our active members are thanked for their efforts along the year. The tradition holds that everything will be kept in secret until the very last moment.

FreshMAKtivity

Starts: Both September and February

Hours per week: 2

This committee, which consists of new MAKkers only, organizes an activity for all MAKkers. During this activity, MAKkers will get to know the FreshMAKkers and the other way around.

Walking Dinner

Starts: Both September and February

Hours per week: 2

Twice a year, a walking dinner is organized by a couple of MAKkers. During this walking dinner, all MAKkers will have to prepare meals for their fellow MAKkers. It especially focuses on creating the close band amongst MAKkers.

ArtDeCo (Art and Design Committee)

Starts: Both September and February

Hours per week: 3-4

The ArtDeCo is the perfect committee for creative members. The posters and flyers you get from MAK are made by this committee as well as MAK’s promotion videos are. In short, you will be responsible for all the physical and digital promotion of MAK Mentorship System.

Promotion and Social committee

Starts: Both September and February

Hours per week: 4

The promotion and social committee is responsible for both the internal cohesion amongst our interactive members as well as the exposure of MAK Mentorship System to other TiSEM students. As a committee member, you will be responsible for the organization of several activities, stimulating both aspects. For example, the MAK promotion party, the MAK kick-off party, and an activity on the TOP festival form responsibilities for this committee.
